TikTok Found a Brighter Fragrance You Can Spoof at Zara

If there’s one thing TikTok loves about beauty more than anything, it’s a great deceived beauty. A quick search for the word “dupe” reveals thousands of videos about less expensive versions of popular products like lipstick, foundation, and perfume. Now, there is one particular duplicate perfume circulating on the app: a Glossier You duplicate.

Glossier’s wildly popular You fragrance has been flying off the shelves practically since its release, and for good reason. It’s supposed to complement your natural scent and smell different on everyone thanks to its warm but light blend of pink pepper, iris, and ambrox, which is a musky synthetic note. However, Some fans suspect that You was recently recast, and it doesn’t smell the same, so they have been looking for imitations that better replicate the original fragrance. And where do they go to find said dupes? Zara!

According many TikTokersZara A pink perfume is an almost exact dupe for You’s supposedly older formula. Despite what its name may lead you to believe, this is not a rose fragrance. Zara describes it as a “floral fragrance with woody and musky touches.” It has many of the same notes as the OG fragrance, including pink pepper, iris and ambrette, mixed with hints of pear and woody notes, which is why many consider it a worthy candidate for a Glossier You Dupe. A perfume in rose sells for $27.90 per 100 ml, compared to Youwhich sells for $68 for 1.7 oz/50 ml and $98 for the same size as Zara’s.

Before you run to your local Zara (or buy the perfume online), keep a few things in mind. You and A Perfume in Rose could smell sooooo similar, but, of course, not exactly the same. Some TikTokers found A Perfume in Rose to be a little sweeter than You, probably due to the fruity notes, but others consider it a complete twin. TikToker Kimberley Kamale calls the fragrance “99.9% similar” except for the fruity notes at the top.

This is not the first time that Zara has gone viral for its fragrances. Perfume Red Temptation was praised as a victim of Maison Francis Kurkdijan’s equally popular Baccarat Rouge 540, but as an owner of both, I can tell you from first-hand experience that Zara’s version is much less luxurious and rich than the original. As in the case of the You fragrance, they are quite similar, but they are not exactly dupes!

Of course, beauty deceptions have arrived. under some controversy, and some people have mixed feelings about them, but then again, “Inspired By” fragrances have been around for decades. And, ICYMI, Zara now even has its own collection with He and Jo Malone if you are looking for more affordable but original fragrances. If you’re looking for more affordable alternatives to try out your new signature fragrance, it seems like a safe bet to head to Zara, but if not, the originals will always be there, ready to hug you!
