Ten emerging designers you should know from the Fall-Winter 2024 season of Berlin Fashion Week

New York Fashion Week may be just getting started in the United States, but in Europe the fashion shows haven’t stopped. Following a very lively haute couture race and men’s collections in Milan and Paris, Berlin Fashion Week It picked up the baton from February 5 to 8, slightly shifting its traditional January to February schedule in an effort to establish itself as another competitor on the international ready-to-wear scene.

This season, Berlin Fashion Week filled every corner of the German capital with new talent. with 32 official shows on the fall-winter 2024 calendar held at different venues across the city, plus multiple off-calendar events, the city has become a breeding ground for community and creativity.

For several seasons now, Berlin Fashion Week has already welcomed more established talents such as Namilia, the Berlin duo behind the first installment of Kylie Jenner’s Khy brand, known for their NSFW designs. While brands like Namilia will always feature prominently on the German scene, it is the emerging designers who have a big impact at BFW in terms of international appeal.

Initiatives like Contemporary Berlin, aimed at supporting and highlighting emerging labels, helps launch talent from a local stage to a global platform. In total, 18 brands were selected as winners this year, including startup brands (more on that below) and veterans like William Fan, Dennis Chuene, Richert Beil, and Ukrainian-born designer Kristina Bobkova.

Each BFW designer has their own distinctive flavor. However, some common threads connect them all: unbridled creativity, an underground sensitivity, unparalleled fluidity, a focus on sustainability and more than a touch of portability.
