Puma India announces plans to continue as Virat Kohli brand ambassador following reports he could leave

Sportswear brand Cougar announced that he plans to continue his relationship with famous cricketer Virat Kohli as a brand ambassador. the announcement comes at a time when reports are doing the rounds that Kohli has been offered a deal by another industry brand.

“Puma’s relationship with Virat Kohli is long-standing and continuing,” Puma India CEO Karthik Balagopalan said, Press Trust of India reported. Balagopalan rejected reports that Kohli is thinking of ending the brand deal, which was first signed in 2017 and is understood to be valued at around Rs 110 crore.

Reports had emerged that Kohli could join sportswear and lifestyle brand Agilitas Sports as a brand ambassador, Livemint reported. A CNBC TV18 report on February 7 also stated that Kohli would be leaving Puma India and joining forces with Agilitas Sports.

Agilitas Sports was launched by entrepreneur Abhishek Ganguly, who previously worked as CEO of Puma India, even during the time when Kohli started working as a brand ambassador. the brand was launched in May last year and raised Rs 100 crore funding from Nexus Venture and reported rapid growth in its first few months of operations.
