Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae know that Friday night is for the girls.
the pair of pop star friends stepped out on January 19 to sit courtside at the Los Angeles Lakers’ game against the Brooklyn Nets at Crypto.com Stadium in Los Angeles. Photos from the game captured the two musicians cheering loudly, laughing and having the time of their lives in the game. Unfortunately, Rodrigo and McRae’s pop star power couldn’t give the Lakers the victory: they lost to the Nets 130-112.
As for the front row style, Rodrigo and McRae kept it relatively casual in their own way. Rodrigo opted for a schoolgirl look, with a black button-down minidress and a white t-shirt underneath. the GUTS artist paired the ensemble with chunky black loafers and white ankle socks.
McRae opted for oversized pieces for her relaxed ensemble. the “Greedy” singer wore a large leather jacket with baggy jeans and sneakers. the look oozed effortless cool girl.

Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae, both 20, launched their friendship last year when the former introduced McRae to her music video for “bad idea, right?” the ’90s and early 2000s-inspired music video saw Rodrigo’s closest friends in real life playing his friends in the video. Iris Apatow and Madison Hu also star alongside McRae in the music video.
McRae said SiriusXM reaches 1 in September that Rodrigo casually asked her to be in the music video via text message.
“[Olivia] He just texted me and said, ‘Oh, do you want to do a music video tomorrow?’ And I said, ‘Sure!'” McRae said. “It was so fun. I mean, all those girls are really the best girls ever.”
the musician then shared a behind the scenes selfie with the other three girls, writing in the legend “<333 the girls”.
Olivia Rodrigo is currently preparing to perform at the 2024 Grammy Awards on February 4. the full roster of artists was announced last Sunday, with Rodrigo joining other musicians including Dua Lipa and Billie Eilish.
