Watch trends in 2023 include innovations in sustainability, design, production quality and social change. the affordable and luxury watch industry is often thought of as consumerist or profit-focused. As a result, many brands have launched products and campaigns focused on environmentalism and social good this year.

An example of this is the Timex Reclaimed Ocean Plastic watch. This watch, as its name indicates, is made from plastics that reach the ocean and are collected by fishermen from the coasts. These plastics are used in the case and frame, but not in the mechanical components or bracelet. Recovered marine plastics give the box a unique design with a black base and speckled dots, evident from impurities in the recovered plastic.

the ‘AVI-4103 Flyboy’ watch from independent company AVI-8 is a watch focused on social good developed in collaboration with a non-profit organization. This watch aims to fund Tuskegee Arimen Inc., the non-profit organization in question, in its mission to promote aviation careers among youth from disadvantaged communities. A portion of all proceeds from this watch will support this cause, offering consumers a way to support a good cause while receiving a beautifully crafted watch in return.
