In his inaugural address, Modi stated that the Surat Diamond Exchange will stand out among its global counterparts and will uplift the city as a whole, creating around 1.5 employment opportunities, the Gems and Jewelery Export Promotion Council said. on their website. the opening ceremony was also attended by Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel among other dignitaries.

the new diamond exchange houses nine towers with 4,500 offices with capacity for more than 67,000 diamond traders. the facility has been built with a focus on sustainability and features a ‘green building’ that will save 50% in energy and water usage, as well as a ‘Panchtatva’ garden.
